Change The Code

Since 2007, FBH Community, Inc. (FBHC) has supported students across Volusia and Flagler counties by providing high-quality tutoring and enrichment programs designed to help them reach their full academic potential. FBHC focuses on serving underprivileged and underserved students, ensuring equitable access to the tools and support needed for long-term success.

In 2022, FBHC expanded its impact by securing a Department of Education grant to launch an intensive tutoring pilot program at two Title I elementary schools. A middle school in the same community was later added, extending support across grade levels. Funding was awarded in April 2023, allowing FBHC to strengthen reading and math outcomes and help students perform confidently at grade level.

FBHC’s work aligns with the Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Florida 2030 Blueprint, which emphasizes early literacy and middle-grade proficiency as essential to building a strong future workforce. By addressing learning gaps early and consistently, FBHC makes a direct contribution to these statewide goals.

Through Food Brings Hope, FBH Community operates the Change the Code tutoring program, which expands educational opportunities for students living and attending school in the 32114 zip code—one of Florida’s most economically challenged communities. The program provides free, teacher-led tutoring at Palm Terrace Elementary, Turie T. Small Elementary, Campbell Middle School, and Mainland High School. Instruction is aligned with state standards and classroom learning, with a strong focus on Math and Language Arts.

At Campbell Middle School, students participate in the Change the Code tutoring program, which provides targeted academic support in core subjects. In addition, FBH Community offers a separate FBHonors program, designed to recognize student achievement and provide advanced STEM learning opportunities. FBHonors engages students in hands-on projects, problem-solving, and enrichment experiences that promote critical thinking and academic challenges during the pivotal middle school years.

At Mainland High School, Change the Code supports students as they work toward graduation and postsecondary readiness. In addition to targeted tutoring, the program fosters a motivating environment that encourages goal setting, persistence, and academic confidence.

All FBH Community tutoring programs are provided at no cost to students and their families, ensuring access to high-quality educational support and helping students build a strong foundation for success in school and beyond.
